So here’s a bit about me:

My name is Steven P. Malm. I am 23 years old, Caucasian, and currently in a long-term relationship.  I currently hold a M.A. in School Psychology from Ball State University and am continuing on toward my Ph.D. My undergraduate institution was Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. I had a major in Psychology and a minor in Creative Writing. Officially, my occupational status is Student/Graduate Assistant.

School has required a great deal of my time as of late. But, I have to say, I’m loving this field. I don’t care so much for the school politics, but doing evaluations in the elementary schools and cases in the clinic are very interesting and incredibly engaging. Though the practicum year demands a large portion of my attention, I somehow manage to reserve a couple hours every night for more personal endeavors.

I’m a gamer. I have an Xbox 360 in my apartment with a decently-large game library. Additionally, my current game of choice is League of Legends, a free-to-play MOBA from RIOT Games. Many of my friends from undergrad and back home play, so it’s a good way for me to keep in touch with them and unwind after a long day. I used to play World of Warcraft, but decided to kick the habit when I went into graduate school in anticipation of the significant reduction in free time. As a gamer for most of my life, I don’t tend to endorse the idea that violent video games make people violent any more than the same can be said about movies. I prefer to explore ways that video game play is cognitively beneficial.

I am also a writer – a crafter of fiction, if you will. In high school I started working on a book and I finished the project part-way through my undergrad. At that point, I went ahead with self-publishing it through Xlibris (More information can be found here). If you want a somewhat entertaining read, go ahead and check it out. Shortly thereafter, I began new writing projects. In the Spring semester of 2012 (during my first year of graduate school), I began writing a new book, finishing it within 5-months’ time. More information about this book will be presented on my blog at some point or another, but I’m hoping to get this one published as well. I tend to write more romantic stories with an edge of mysticism or the unknown. I also have tried to apply my growing knowledge of psychology to make my characters’ behavior accurate on some level. Keep an eye out for samples of my writing and story/character ideas.

That’s all I can really think of that’s relevant about me and pretty much everything that will be appearing on this blog. As you might conclude, my mind can be a strange place at times, so stay tuned to find out what creeps out onto the pages.

Thanks for reading.
